Thermal baths Yverdon, five senses in architecture
Dvořák, Dalibor ; Křikavová, Iva (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Object of the thermes is located in a compact cube surrounded by water, which is located in the park. Baths are divided vertically into five levels according to function. Public baths, wellness, rehabilitation, physiotherapy.
Structure and properties of bacterial biofilms
Mrázová, Kateřina ; Sedláček, Petr (referee) ; Obruča, Stanislav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the study of basic properties of cells of bacterial biofilm produced by PHA producing bacteria, specifically Burkholderia cepacia and Burkholderia sacchari. Two cultivation approaches were used to compare different types of cells: at first, the cells were cultivated in bioreactor providing both planktonic and biofilm attached cells, secondly, cells grown on Petri dishes were also included in the study. In experimental part the affinity of each type of cells to hydrophobic phase was studied using BATH method. It was found that sessile cells, either biofilm associated cells as well as cells taken from Petri dishes, prefer hydrophobic phases more than planktonic cells. Also size and Zeta potential were measured using Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS). It was found for studied samples that, cells in these samples tend to aggregate and the difference of size between both types of cells occurs only for biofilm of the strain Burkholderia cepacia. Finally the impact of presence various bacterial cells types on surface tension of water as well as amount of PHA cumulated in different types of cells were observed.
The Municipal Baths
Eliáš, Petr ; Kopečný, Petr (referee) ; Mikulášek, David (advisor)
The project deals on one hand with means of activation of the site trying to establish new connections in the city. One the other it tries to redefine standards of bath culture.
Drainage circular machine
Dvořák, Pavel ; Mana, Jaroslav (referee) ; Kašpárek, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with a design of a circular draining machine. The aim is to design a machine that complies with the respective requirements. The machine is assembled in a line for the preparation of paper stock, which is further processed for final paper production.
The Municipal Baths
Langová, Monika ; Kopečný, Petr (referee) ; Mikulášek, David (advisor)
Designed construction of a spa with the wellness center programs (relaxation type), for 200-250 people (at one moment) at Brno city, near Voronez Hotel and Exhibition Centre. The five-floor spa building is designed as a puzzle in the shape originating from a dice. Cycles of water in its various forms and states of matter or properties fade into one another here. Each floor is designed to have its own theme (water world, the Asian world, aroma floor, salt floor, sunny and airy bath) and offers various types of premises and procedures: swimming, relaxing in the water, baths, showers, steam rooms, saunas, infrared saunas, wraps and massages etc. The spa program is accompanied by various types of refreshments: cafe, bar, tearoom, fruit bar. Rooftop pool and bar offers a unique view on the city. The spa and hotel Voronež parking is carried out within the ground floor.
Thermal baths Yverdon, five senses in architecture
Kolman, Jakub ; Křikavová, Iva (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Yverdon-les-Bains Thermal Spa is a group of elements searching for their identity since the end of the 20th century. The spa complex consists od several buildings built in different eras. Each one of the has its own strong formal identity whether expressed by facades, materials, volumes or spaces. All the historic buildings are to be preserved and new spa is to be designed to complement them. Potential of the new spa development is one of the most important values of the diploma project.
Baths +
Helešic, David ; Kopec, Jakub (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
In contrast to the feelings and atmosphere associated with spa building stands crematorium as a reminder that our physicality is finite and fleeting life. Just as in spa rituals present moment experience free from the past and the future in the funeral liturgy, on the contrary, human life shrinks to a single point in time short ceremony. Consciousness of the time becomes a measure of the meaningfulness of our decisions, actions and experiences. You can live a meaningful life infinite?
Characterization of adsorption properties of probiotic bacteria
Černá, Klára ; Sedláček, Petr (referee) ; Obruča, Stanislav (advisor)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to characterize the adsorption properties of probiotic bacteria. Characterization was performed using of designed and optimized spectrophotometric method of determination of adhesion of probiotic bacteria to mucin as the main viscoelastic component of mucus. In order to provide a more detailed description of the adhesion interactions involved in the adhesion of probiotic bacteria to mucin, the viability of selected probiotic bacterial strains Lactobacillus rhamnosus CCM 1825, Lactobacillus plantarum CCM 7039, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus CCM 7190, Lactobacillus acidophilus CCM 4833, Lactobacillus casei CCM 4798, Bifidobacterium breve CCM 7825, Bacillus coagulans CCM 2658 and a potential probiotic strain of Lactobacillus zeae CCM 7069. Moreover, bacterial adhesion to carbohydrates was also determined for all the bacteria tested. The last proposed and optimized technique was dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering characterizing surface properties such as -potential, average size distribution and isoelectric point. From this method, information was obtained on aggregation of bacterial cells and on electrostatic interactions. The combination of these methods was used as a complex tool to characterize adhesion of the tested bacterial cultures as a very specific, sensitive and key parameter of a successful probiotic microorganism that is influence by the multiple effects.
Design of Waterbirth Vessel
Navrátilová, Sára ; Paliatka, Peter (referee) ; Křenek, Ladislav (advisor)
The topic of this diploma thesis is a design of bathtub for delivery to water. The goal is to improve shape, ergonomic and safety parameters compared to current representatives. The resulting design is a new product that is suitable for the professional medical environment while reflecting the psychological aspects of childbirth.
Phosphate conversion coatings
Ševčíková, Barbora ; Trčka,, Josef (referee) ; Zmrzlý, Martin (advisor)
The main objective of the master’s thesis is to study the influence of phosphate coating structure on the mechanical properties of screw connection. The theoretical part describes the conventional phosphating process and it is followed by an analysis of current knowledge of phosphating technology. Experiments are carried out on screw valves mounted to a high pressure diesel pump by Bosch Diesel s.r.o., made of unalloyed carbon steel. To investigate the effect of the structure on the connection sealing, twelve kinds of phosphate coatings varying in one process parameter were prepared. The monitored parameters determining the phosphate structure are – type of phosphate and activation bath, its temperature and concentration and time of immersion. The sealing connection is examined during simulated assembly process by angle controlled tightening while measuring torque and permanent material deformation. Prepared layers are characterized by determination of weight per unit area and their structure observed by electron microscope.
